A picture of a new Norwegian Salvation Army cachet was just sent to me by a friend. Not seen before and supposedly extremely RARE! It was cancelled in Mo (no. 8600) and was issued by the Polar circle Philatelic Club. This is a REFERENCE cover which is not in my collection!

SA 25 – Norway Dramnex FDCs
At the time of the issue of the Norwegian SA stamp (18.02.1988), a National Philatelic Youth Excibition was held in Drammen – the Dramnex Exhibition. Two special postmarks was used; a Dramnex PM specially made for the exhibition and a Drammen PM picturing a local known site; Bragenes torg. Here are two different version shown double cancelled with these two PMs.
SA 25 – Norway – FD info sheet
An unlisted FD info sheet was just obtained – not seen before. The Norwegian SA stamps with correct FD cancel is attached. Detailed info about the motifs on the stamps (in Norwegian). Issued: 18 February 1988. Standard postmark Oslo. Size 145 x 210. According to info given, this is a forerunner of the Philatelic Post, an official PO info sheet about new issues (like a bulletin). Someone has been clever enough to attach the stamps on the preprinted pictures, and have them first day cancelled. A similar practice as that of the US Ranto cachets
SA 25 – More Svalbard FDCs – Norway 1988
Two more characteristic Polar FDCs have been obtained. They are picturing a map of Norway and Svalbard, with a Polar bear on top and the text: North Pole. The cachet has been used on a series of FDCs issued on Svalbard. The new with these two are the pictorial PMs cancelled at NY-Ålesund and Bjørnøya (an island south of Svalbard, halfway to Norway). Pictured here with the Norwegian Salvation Army stamps issued in 1988 to commemorate the centenary of the SA in Norway. Remarkable items, must be rare, they are seldom seen on Norwegian auctions. Similar covers have been cancelled at Sveagruva, Longearbyen and Isfjord.

1988 – Norway – Youth philately exhibition
At the time of the issue of the Norwegian SA stamp (18.02.1988), a National Philatelic Youth Excibition was held in Drammen – the Dramnex Exhibition. Some foreign collectors may also have been present. The shown country combo include two Danish stamps, unfortunately unrelated to the Salvation Army. Possibly an unique item.
SA 25 – Unlisted Norwegian FDCs
This Salvation Army cover from a local corps (Gjøvik) turned up on a Norwegian auction. Unfortunately I did not get hold of it.
This cover has not been seen before and is not listed in the SA catalogue. Must be RARE! Gjøvik corps is located a couple of hours north of Oslo.
Another unlisted cover was also seen this week with a Sami & reindeer vignette. It was sold for approx. £95 and must be a very rare item.
