Very colorful British birds FDC; a Salvation Army cachet issued by Historic Relics. The cover celebrated the Centenary of the Harwich Citadel Corps (“One houndred years of worship and service”) and has a special Centenary postmark. Very rare cover! the Catalogue value is high (£ 110 – BFDC 2018) – Estimated value at least £ 70 (sold for £65 on Ebay Spring 2017). The cover is among the first issued by “Historic Relics”, I’ve traced covers from this issuer back to 1979.
Rarely seen combination, a Cotswold Christmas 1994 cover with Salvation Army Cambridge Heath corps centenary postmark. First Day cancel for the stamp set. The catalogue value is £10 (BFDC 2018)
A set of Queen Victoria stamps was issued 24 May 2019 by Royal Mail. Special cachets & handstamp postmark have been produced by Bradbury with illustrations from the Victoria period. William Booth and the centenary stamp of the SA (1965) is pictured on one of the covers. Very nice item, can be pre-ordered at the BFDC.co.uk. LIMITED edition; only 50 covers worldwide.
The Leicester corps issued a special postmark to the Christmas 1982 issue, possibly celebrating their centenary anniversary (?). Bradbury worked out a special cachet in a limited edition , but the postmark was also used on other cachets like this shephard FDC made by Stuart. The cat. value: is £8 (BFDC), but it has been seen sold for £25 and is probably very RARE!
During the 80’ties, the SA issued some special “Carols at Christmas” covers. I’ve seen carols at Christmas covers up to 1993, see 1987 cover on the right. In the 90’ties , the practice discontinued and the use of the Salvation Army meter mark seems to have substituted it. The below Christmas FDC was issued in 2001, the latest date with Christmas Meter mark I’ve seen up to now.
