Remark: General William Booth, Founder of the Salvation Army, visited the Isle of Man in May, 1897, accompanied by a number of his principal officers. Well-attended meetings demonstrated the spread of the Movement and encouraged local Salvationists. Shown in the background is the earliest meeting place, a former Unitarian Church in Circular Road, Douglas.
